India in Italy is a chapter of work that weaves together memory and migration. My great-uncle, Dr. Yelahanka Murthy, moved from Bangalore to Rome in 1956, where he raised a family with my great-aunt, Sudha Rao. Framed by their own archive of images, I turn my lens toward today’s South Asians in Rome—those who labor quietly in corner stores, gelaterias, and kitchens. These portraits trace unseen currents of resilience and displacement, inviting reflection on the too often overlooked intimacies that bind distant geographies across time.
